About SHRBA

As a steadfast member of the South Hampton Roads community, the SHRBA will continue to build upon its legacy as an organization which affords its members every opportunity to professionally and personally thrive. We will do so by fostering a strong network for members of the bar of every background. And, we will do so by identifying for, providing to, and developing in our members the professional skills and knowledge they need to grow their practices and become great lawyers.

Our responsibility to our community runs symmetrically with our professional success. Accordingly, our organization will also provide our members opportunities to develop their roles as leaders to and as advocates for our communities. We will do so by recognizing and embracing our duty to invest our time, energy, and resources in representing and informing the underserved and underrepresented members of our community. Moreover, we will invest our time, energy, and resources in mentoring and setting an example for aspiring attorneys.

We welcome you to join us in realizing our vision for this year and years to come. And, we hope to use this website as a tool to reach the community at large. The South Hampton Roads Bar Association (SHRBA) is comprised predominantly of African-American lawyers, judges, and law students from the Hampton Roads, Virginia community.
